A future project

I spied this table project in "Better homes and Gardens" and I am putting it on the to do list! The front of the dresser is covered in a toile wallpaper, how clever! Isn't it pretty?

Le petit garcon!

With the nursery complete and waiting for Baby Q, I found that I had nothing baby related to obsess over. Then I realized, he needs a coming home outfit, baby book and announcement! Thrilled that I could occupy (waste) some time on the internet I made these careful (obsessed over) choices.

I thought this outfit would be perfect for our "little gentleman". This is what Baby Q will be wearing home from the hospital....courtesy of "Janie and Jack"!

His baby book, for holding those first tiny foot prints! (http://www.verabradley.com/)

I love these announcements from http://www.tinyprints.com/. The chocolate brown is adorable, but I think the blue is slightly more "spring" inspired for our petit garcon. I asked my always witty husband for his opinion on which announcement he prefers. He simply pointed out that perhaps we should get one with a picture of our baby rather than the adorable "Bradley Aaron" pictured here....LOL.

We are honored to be mentioned!

On a whim we entered a nursery contest on the talented Bernadette Uzcategui's photography blog, and are thrilled that we were chosen as one of the top ten! There are some beautiful nurseries featured and you can view them and vote at:

The three nurseries with the most votes will receive some fabulous prizes including free photo sessions and prints!

Mini-Master Makeover

I seem to always forget to take "before" pictures...you'll just have to trust me that what was here before was pretty bland and boring! I've never been fond of our master bedroom, which really is more of a "mini-master" as it is actually the smallest bedroom in the house. In hindsight we should not have opted for the king size bed, although I'm certain it will be helpful on nights when three little munchkins somehow find their way into Mommy & Daddy's bed. The room is rather narrow and long, with our dressers and master bath at the opposite end of this picture.

What's that in the lower left corner? That would be my hospital bag, packed and ready to go at a moments notice!

This bedding is from Target and part of the "Dwell" line. The entire set was $40. I like how the green brightens up the space, but I think I'll swap the heavy silk drape panels out for some white sheer panels to let even more light spill in.

I found this frame on clearance and Bed, Bath & Beyond. After using a 20% off coupon it was $8, and I thought the phrase would be a nice reminder to us when stepping out of bed each morning. I'll add a new picture of our growing family once baby Q decides to make an appearance.

The cat hair came free with the bedding.....

Another BB&B clearance find, still need to add candles to the votives.

John was able to replace the light fixture for me with this one from Home Depot. The wires we found in the ceiling of our 1920's home while replacing this light fixture were no less than scary!

I'm sure that John's favorite part of this makeover will be that after three years he finally has a nightstand and lamp on his side of the bed! I hope he likes it!

When life gives you LeMoNs

This is another canvas painted by Maggie of BopBop Designs. It's been adorning our kitchen for the last year, but I had not gotten around to adding any other touches of lemon yellow to the kitchen.

Finally a year later I added a few more bits of yellow! Can you spy all of them? The fishbowl is the home of our goldfish "Darby 1" & "Darby 3".....our potty training secret weapons.

I found these jars at Homegoods for $10 each and wasn't sure at the time what I'd use them for, but couldn't pass them up! I added the faux lemons from Target for $4.99 and I think one more box will fill the jars up nicely. Anyone thirsty for lemonade?

I'd love to add this pretty wreath from www.williamssonoma.com to the mix, but at $80 I'll have to keep my eyes open for a cheaper alternative....let me know if you see one!

"GQ cribs" for G & Q!

It's no secret that it's difficult to get home decorating done with two active little boys! Although these rooms are still works in progress I thought I'd share a few peeks at the new "GQ cribs" for G&Q!

Third times a charm right? This is the same Pottery Barn Kids bedding that I fell in love with while pregnant with Jack and we will be using it for the third time! One of the things I love about Pottery Barn Kids is that the quality is fantastic, anything able to survive two babies and still hold up gets 5 stars in my book. This bedding set and decor is the Chamois Lambie line from 2005.

All we need now is the baby!

Grant's room is also still in progress, although he has already settled in. I still have a shelf and some artwork that needs to be hung, but Grant doesn't seem to notice. His bedding set is by Restoration Hardware Baby in coastal blue & chocolate . I adore the calming blue and rich brown together.

If you look on the dresser, you can see the adorable canvas painting by a good friend and artist Maggie of BopBop Designs, http://bopbopdesigns.blogspot.com/ She is currently involved in a new business venture, the fabulous Hand & Stone massage and facial spa, http://www.handandstone.com/spa/Pennsylvania/Glen-Mills which I highly reccomend!

No two year olds room is complete without a Bear skin rug right? John lovingly refers to this room as "G's cocktail Lounge" and says he half expects to see Grant sipping a shaken martini in his club chair.

I was very happy to find a little nook to provide Grant with comfortable place to read, his latest favorite novels include "The little engine that could" and "Cars and trucks and things that go".

I think he looks content with his new room, after some design revisions of his own.....what do you think?
